Hello everyone!! Well, I have some news. I checked in to see how much it would cost us to stay in Napa for one day. If we get a room with two Queen beds, it will be 225 dollars. We would stay at the Best Western in Napa. It looks pretty good. Also, it will cost us 275 in San Francisco the next day. Well, what do you think? I will need some money sent to me so that I may reserve the rooms. How much can each of you send me? And, it has to be quick before the rooms are taken or the price goes up.

Posting again
I know it's been awhile. Our christmas was good. The boys got everything they wanted and we had another year where we were safe and healthy so I'm good. It's too bad I won't be able to go on the trip this year, maybe I'll have to train and go on the next trip. Ok, I've gotta go but I'll keep in touch.
HELLO OUT THERE!!!
Hello people. Does anyone ever get on the blog? It is really nice when I get to read what you have to say.
Our family had a good Christmas. We had a dinner at Liz and Jorge's house. Lil Olivia had to go back to LA today. Marina has to work during the Holiday.
Me, I am just kicking back. Wait, that is what I always do. Oh well, nothing has changed with me.
See Ya, be happy.

Well, my bike training has slowed down. It is too cold out here. I am going to the gym. I plan to stay in shape. I want to lose weight, I want to lose weight, I want to lose weight. I hope that by saying it a lot and saying it to you, it will keep me on track. Help! I want a croissant!! You know they are good.
See ya!

Salutations
Well, what's up people? It has been a while since I have logged messages on a consistent basis. Obviously, the reason for that is because I seemed to be the only one reading them. Now what fun is that? I write them and then read them. I realised I could save some time by just talking to myself. So, that is what I have been doing. Well, see you later. I have to go talk to myself. Sincerely, Armando Castillo

Just Checking
Is anyone still reading/wanting to write on the blog? I havent heard from anyone in awhile.
Tio Jimmy,
I havent heard from Melanie in awhile. Did she ever get her stuff done on Quickbooks? I called her that night you called me and she said she wasn't feeling good but would call me back to see when would be a good time to come over.
Ok, well, someone post something. I haven't gotten any new pictures or anything to post and the boys haven't started fall baseball yet so nothing new is going on with me.
C ya.

Hello
Ok, so Dillon's party was last weekend, it went good, but I liked last years party better because it was more private. I saw Tio Hector though. Sadly, it didn't even dawn on me to tell him to hurry and get on the blog and say something. Next time I see him, I'll try to remember.
Well for now, I'm just trying to relax before fall ball starts and Mark and Joseph get back to playing baseball. That should start in the next couple of weeks.
Hopefully starting soon I'll start going back to the gym. Like Dad was saying about how he needs to get motivated to do something around the house, I need to get motivated to go to the gym. I'm getting there though because I'm starting to get tired of being fat. I'm not totally tired yet though, but will be soon.
Ok, talk to you guys later. Hopefully more people start writing. I resent the invitation to Tio Johnny so hopefully he can get back on soon.

I'm Back
Hello everyone, how are you? I have not been on the blog because it seemed that I was the only constant blogger. Now it looks like Mark has made a few attempts to contact someone out there. Apparantly, it looks like it is only me again. Well that's O.K. I really do not mind. I do have some new information. I will soon be a grandfather! What? A grandfather?? Oh yeah, Elizabeth is expecting. I still think I am too young to be called TaTa, Abuelito or any other name you can think of. For now please continue to call me Armando. See ya, love ya.

Biking
What's up everyone? I hope you all are having a great summer. I am.
Today I went on my second day on the bike traveling 30 miles. It was not too bad. I will make it three days in a row on Wednesday. Wish me luck. It isn't easy. Especially when I have to carry this extra weight. I was looking at the Tour De France and those guys are at 137 pounds. Come on, thats how many pounds I eat a day. Well maybe I will have to cut back. I will commit to 100 pounds a day. Wish me luck. I do likes my fooooood.
Well, I hope everyone is fine.
See Ya.

Baseball
Well, Mark's team lost last week on Thursday for the second time and they are out of the all star playoffs. They did good though. The coach said that this all star team went farther than any all star team since 1984 and in that year, they went all the way. They went farther than the majors and the jr's and they were only a couple wins away from going to the big game. It was fun though watching them and it was amazing to see how good some of those kids were at such a young age.
Now they are all playing for the Jr. Giants, Dillon is playing tball and the two older ones are on the same team with other 9 and 10 year olds. In a month they'll be playing fall ball and then after that they'll have a month or so off before next years season starts. It keeps us all busy and moving around so it's nice. Maybe one day I'll video tape a game and then post it on the blog for all to see.
Until then, talk to you all next time........

What's up?
Hello everyone!! Well, I notice that not too many people are posting. Why? This is a good way to communicate. Just like Lil Mark does with info on his family and himself. I even tell you what I am doing. I would like to hear from everyone.
Olivia and I were in Can Cun last week. Oh yeah! we had a great time. I will post picture next time I get on the blog.
We will be home for a week and then we are going to Tampa Bay, Florida for a week. Yes, that is what retired people do, go around spending the kids inheritance. Sorry girls the money is all gone.
Well, I wish you all the best. LOL

It's final
They finally settled on a transition date for me. After I accepted the position to go back to Lathrop, there was still debate on when Modesto could let me go over since they didnt have a replacement for me and with the season starting, it was going to be hard to operate the department. But they finally agreed on July 2nd. So starting then I'll be back at Lathrop and will have a new number.
Mark III starts all-stars this week. His first practice is Monday and it'll be 2 hours. It's a little longer than his normal practices but since his first game is Saturday, they need to practice.
Ok, that's all for now, will check in again later in the week to see who comments or posts.

Been Awhile
I know I haven't posted in awhile but I've been busy and preoccupied. On the workfront, I've accepted a position back at our Lathrop facility so as soon as Modesto's management is able to find a replacement for me or set up a procedure that will make daily processes more tolerable until they're able to find a replacement. I was at odds as to whether or not I should take the position. It's not a promotion (not yet anyway), it's a lateral move but in Lathrop I'll have 3 people reporting to me and my responsibilities will be different because I'll be taking more of a managerial role to not only just cost accounting, but also fixed assets and overhead. It sounds good but I was really disappointed that it wasn't a promotion because from the description of the responsibilities it sounds like a promotion. But Tio Jimmy made a good point that sometimes to go forward, you have to go backward. Although this isn't really going backward, more sideways and a little to the left, I think in the long run it'll give me a more rounded experience base and prepare me for a controller position or something more higher up in the future. Having the MBA and understanding of accounting I've attained over the past 8 years is good, but I need to get the managerial experience under my belt so that I'm more promotable.
The Boys - Mark, Joseph and Dillon will all be playing for the Junior Giants this summer which is a very informal baseball league for the kids that the city sponsors. It's aimed more toward getting kids exposed to the game and trying to show them how fun it can be. It's fun, but personally, I like winning and they don't keep score (but I do) so for the most part, I just look at it as more experience for the boys. This is Dillon's first year playing and he'll be playing T-Ball. He was mad because we didn't go out and buy him a new glove, bat and helmet like we do the other boys. He'll have his own, but we wanted to wait till this weekend. He was just mad that he didn't have it for his first day of practice. Also, I just found out today that Mark made minor league all-stars. So, somehow, we'll have to balance Jr. Giants with All-Stars, but since All-Stars is real little league, then that one will be more important.
Ok, sorry for not posting for awhile, I'll try to make postings more often so that I don't always publish books when I post. Megan saw me typing and asked me why I always publish these long all diatribes (she didn't use the word diatribe, I just thought it sounded more dramatic). So, I'll try to post more often.

Hello
Hi mando, Hector said he is the only one that doesn't know what date and time the tour de castillo is going to start and what place so this is why we need to stay in touch with each other and keep every one informed of any changes in the plane if there is any and a list of the one's that are going to ride and the one's that are going be in a car or truck and the map of the tour de castillo so that we know what we are going to try to do and where we are going to rest.

Update - Mark Castillo Jr.
OK, here's what's been going on:
Mark III has been playing baseball, he has about 2 games a week. His team, although Majors (11-12 Year olds) is still very young, this is their first year together and there are 4 10 year olds (Mark is one of them) 4 11 year olds and 3 12 year olds. They haven't one a game yet this season, but they're starting to get into their groove and they almost won last Friday against the Southern Indians. They're the Northern Dodgers. Mark plays a variety of positions; Left Field, 2nd Base and sometimes Right Field.
Work has been very hectic for me, I just finished creating a database for work that will help simulate, estimate and record daily variable labor. It's going to help us track what cost factors affect labor on a day to day basis and help track how different production combinations affect the overall cost per case for the items we produce. It was very hard because I lead a team that consisted of Me (accounting), someone from personal and someone from production planning. The system had to work for all three departments so that Accounting could use it for cost purposes, personal could use it for scheduling and production planning could use it for staffing the lines. We had to work with the line staff and production supervisors to determine what crews were necessary and what drove the increases/decreases in labor staffing to set a standard crew size for production. Now that the system is done I'm writing up instructions so that Managers, HR, Production planning and accounting (so they know how to use it if/when I leave to another plant/company). I'm planning to do my first wave of classes around the beginning of June to train all the front line supervisors and then train on an as needed basis.
Other than that, at the end of this month I'm going to be in Modesto (off plant site) in a training class for lean management or six sigma. I'm not sure how many of you know what six sigma is, but it's a production/operational ideology first used by Toyota in an effort to reduce costs/streamline production. It promotes efficiency and reducing waste/time/effort without reducing quality. Not just manufacturing companies are doing. Megan said that the term Six Sigma has been through around her office as well. The ideology can be used in more places than just the manufacturing floor. The training I'm going to be doing will be more intense and more detailed. We've been slowly getting ideas and little seminars about lean management for the past 2 years. Now they're starting to give more supervisors a more in depth training.
Last month I went to my second IMA meeting. IMA is the Institute for Managerial Accountants. I plan on taking the CMA test within the next year, maybe even before the year is up. CMA stands for Certified Managerial Accountant. It's similar to the CPA but it doesn't include auditing and it's aimed more toward analysis in a corporate environment. I haven't ruled out taking the CPA test, but for what I'm doing a CMA will be more relevant. After this I'll see what certification I'll want after that.
Reading: I just finished reading "The 33 Strategies of War" by Robert Greene. If you are interested on reading a book about strategy and don't want something that reads like stereo instructions, I highly recommend it. It uses real life examples from some of the greatest generals, strategists, kings and heroes from all of history. Tells about what they did/didn't do and why they did what they did that made their life/battle so great and how it can be applied to real life. If you haven't read any of Robert Greene's other books, I highly suggest you do, start with the 48 Laws of Power, or read The Art of Seduction; both very good reads. Next, I'm going to read "The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius", "Code of the Samurai" and then a book about six sigma. I should have those done in a couple of months. Megan said I'm crazy for the six sigma book because I'm already going to a class in a couple of weeks. But we'll see after I start reading it if it's worth it and by then the class will start so I'll be able to tell if the book is outdated or worth keeping.
Sorry for such a long post, but thin about it, I only covered what Mark III and I are doing, I haven't even gotten into Megan, Joseph or Dillon, or the fact that Mark will be in the Gate program next year. I'll cover those next time.
Peace.
Mark Jr.

Peace.

Posting Update
Ok, I noticed that someone from another country made a posting on the site and I don't know what it said but the blog is only intended for our family so I restricted posting comments to only the people signed up to post on this blog. Everyone can still read it, but not everyone can post. So, anyone that wants to make a posting will have to contact me and I will send them an invite to post on the blog. If you have any questions, let me know.
Thanks,

Catching up!
Hello everyone. I read everyone's blogs and was trying to make a comment on each one but that was taking way too long since I haven't been on here in a while! It's nice to hear/see everyone doing well. I really liked everyones pictures.
Well as for me, I am doing good. I am about 7 months along now and just getting everything ready for the baby. For those of you that don't know yet, It's a girl. We are naming her Lisa Michelle Blakley. My due date is July 30th so it's coming up soon. I haven't taken pictures of anything in a while so I have none to put on here right now but maybe soon.
I will start logging in more often so that I can stay more connected but for now I gotta go! Talk to you all later. Bye!

Whats up People?
Well, today I went 66 miles on the bike. I feel good. I almost changed my mind. I had planned my route and I knew it would be around 65 miles. Remember, I normally go 30 miles. Well, today when I was getting to close to the 15 mile mark, I started to make excuses as to why I should only go 30 miles. I mean, I do have windows to clean and I have to work on the pool a little bit. I kept telling myself that I could do the 65 miles some other day. Also, it was kind of windy and my allergy might act up.
Well, I just kept going. Once I passed the 15 mile mark I knew I would finish with my goal. As much as I did not want to go the whole distance, I knew that I had said I would do it and I knew I would feel bad if I did not do what I said I would do. Can you understand that?
So what is the moral of this story? Please post your comments on the comments section. Thank you, Armando Castillo

Hello
Hi every body I just want to tell jimmy and johnny you guy's better start training because I just started to train and it is not going to be easy I only went seven mile's and it was hard so just think when we have to go on a long trip it will be hard. We also have to be ready for any thing that could happen along the way like a flat tire or a butt break or something else that might need attention so how are you doing out there in the world are you getting in shape as you can see mando is in shape and ready are you.
Hello Peoples
So, what is going on out there in the world? I enjoyed seeing the pictures posted. We need to do more of that.
I went on another bike ride. I went 62 miles again. This time I was not hurting so bad. I think I am finnaly getting the hang of it. My training is on track. How is your training going? Are you even training? Just so you all know, I will not have a tow rope to pull you during the Tour de Castillo. SO TRAIN!
See Ya! Armando Castillo

Comments
Don't forget that you can post comments on each picture. If you don't know how to post a comment, all you need to do is click at the bottom of the picture where it says "0 comments", that means no one has commented on your posting, if they did, there would be a number there saying how many comments have been made. But if you want to comment, you can click on that and then post a comment.
If you need more help, let me know.

A little late, but.......
I know it a little late, but I'm thinking of ordering the De La Hoya/Mayweather fight. Anyone wanna come over and watch it, let me know. I'm not going to get it if I only watch it, but if there are a few takers then I'll hook something up. As always, I got beer and I can get some food to munch on. I know it's late in the week making plans but that's why we have email and now this blog, we need to get used to using it so we all stay in touch and can plan things better. You know me, I'm always last minute.
