Glad baseball season is over, thank goodness, maybe I can get some weekends back now. I don't know if Mark is going to play next year, he keeps saying he doesn't but I think it was mainly because his team sucked. SUCKED!!!!!! But I know he likes to play so we'll see since most of him teammates will be moving up to juniors (13+) so they'll get new players next year, however Joey is pretty good, the coaches were saying he has a really good arm for being so young and was better and had a better attitude than some of the 12 year
olds on the team (they moved him up, he
should've played on the minors - 9 and 10 year
olds, but they put him with 11-12 year
olds) and toward the end of the season he kept bugging the coaches to pitch and they let him pitch and although he didn't have the mechanics down 100% he did good, he closed out an inning and and in the next game they let him pitch and he struck one kid out and caught a line drive at his face, but I think that was more out of self preservation than trying to make the out, but better lucky than good. The coaches said if I worked with him then there's no reason why he can't pitch next year for the majors, that he has the arm and can put heat on the ball, that he just needs to be worked with. So, during the off season, I'll probably work with the boys at basketball and I'm also going to get a pitching net that he can pitch to so he can practice his pitching. He already has weighted baseballs so he can strengthen his arm so he'll work with those too.
For Joseph baseball isn't over because he made all-stars, 10 year
olds playing in the majors automatically make minor all stars which is what he would've been on if he would've played in the minors. He's excited, I'll need to work with him on the weekends to practice so that he can get a good spot and hold it. He has the enthusiasm and natural talent that the Castillo's have so I'm sure he'll do well.
As for Megan and I, same thing as always; work and doing stuff with the kids. Next year I'll be on the little league board so I'll be more involved, I volunteered to be treasurer and told the president that I would work with him to build a budget. I think I kinda overwhelmed him because I started talking about taking inventory and making profit/loss statements and generating revenue. He was talking about how the snack bar breaks even or makes enough to cover shortfalls and I told him that there's no reason why that can't generate revenue if things are worked properly and income is generated regularly. I told him that I would work on making sure that the league stays in the black which I guess has been a problem over the past few years. With my accounting background and business sense I should have no problem giving some prestige back to the league and maybe even
one day being president myself. With Dillon barely in T-ball, I'll probably be with the league for the next 6-7 years.
Ok, as always, I don't write for months and then write two months worth of stuff into one post so I'll stop for now and try to write more later.
