Hello All!!

Just wanted to stop in and say hey! We are all doing well. Lisa is growing like a weed. Things are going great! Halloween was fun! We went trick or treating with Mark, Megan, bubba and Dillon (Joey stayed at the house to pass out candies and scare the little kids). So here I am up late just waiting for my husband to get home. It's been a while since I have been on here so I thought I would leave a note and a couple of pictures. Other than that, nothing really new here.

Game 1

Game 1 didn't go according to plan. Luckily the all-stars are a double elimination tournament and they get one more chance. Joey pitched one inning but they had to take him out because no one was making plays and they needed to keep his pitch count down so they could start him on Monday's game. So tomorrow he will be the starting pitcher and I'm hoping the team comes to play. For just starting pitching he is doing very well. He definately got the Castillo natural talent because he only threw about 2 or 3 balls for the 20+ pitches he threw yesterday, he struck one kid out and then threw more strikes but the other team was starting to hit on him and with the infield and outfield unable to help him make outs it went south really quick.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have better news, but until then..........

Baseball Season is Over......Kinda......

Glad baseball season is over, thank goodness, maybe I can get some weekends back now. I don't know if Mark is going to play next year, he keeps saying he doesn't but I think it was mainly because his team sucked. SUCKED!!!!!! But I know he likes to play so we'll see since most of him teammates will be moving up to juniors (13+) so they'll get new players next year, however Joey is pretty good, the coaches were saying he has a really good arm for being so young and was better and had a better attitude than some of the 12 year olds on the team (they moved him up, he should've played on the minors - 9 and 10 year olds, but they put him with 11-12 year olds) and toward the end of the season he kept bugging the coaches to pitch and they let him pitch and although he didn't have the mechanics down 100% he did good, he closed out an inning and and in the next game they let him pitch and he struck one kid out and caught a line drive at his face, but I think that was more out of self preservation than trying to make the out, but better lucky than good. The coaches said if I worked with him then there's no reason why he can't pitch next year for the majors, that he has the arm and can put heat on the ball, that he just needs to be worked with. So, during the off season, I'll probably work with the boys at basketball and I'm also going to get a pitching net that he can pitch to so he can practice his pitching. He already has weighted baseballs so he can strengthen his arm so he'll work with those too.

For Joseph baseball isn't over because he made all-stars, 10 year olds playing in the majors automatically make minor all stars which is what he would've been on if he would've played in the minors. He's excited, I'll need to work with him on the weekends to practice so that he can get a good spot and hold it. He has the enthusiasm and natural talent that the Castillo's have so I'm sure he'll do well.

As for Megan and I, same thing as always; work and doing stuff with the kids. Next year I'll be on the little league board so I'll be more involved, I volunteered to be treasurer and told the president that I would work with him to build a budget. I think I kinda overwhelmed him because I started talking about taking inventory and making profit/loss statements and generating revenue. He was talking about how the snack bar breaks even or makes enough to cover shortfalls and I told him that there's no reason why that can't generate revenue if things are worked properly and income is generated regularly. I told him that I would work on making sure that the league stays in the black which I guess has been a problem over the past few years. With my accounting background and business sense I should have no problem giving some prestige back to the league and maybe even one day being president myself. With Dillon barely in T-ball, I'll probably be with the league for the next 6-7 years.

Ok, as always, I don't write for months and then write two months worth of stuff into one post so I'll stop for now and try to write more later.

JUST SAYING HELLO

It's nice to read the blog and read how everybody is doing (well almost all of you) I guess I need to get on it more, but like most of you I just get to busy (more like lazy) but no more. I'll try to get more like at least once a week and check the blog. Well now hope all you guys are riding those bikes, mando I know we don't have worry about you but TONE,JIMMY,ME TO, we have to take it a little more serious we only have 8 weeks left before the ride so let's get going. All my kids are doing fine, like you mando we have to start getting ready for a babyshower here to. HEY bubba if you come down in a couple weeks to help me do my windows you'll get to see melissa play soccer against USC. Little mark glad to here your coaching, they say the best coaches are the one's that don't play because you teach the fundmental's of that sport. Not behind the back, over the top or whatever, just straight basic's so I know you are going to be a great coach, oh and your kid's got there skill's from there uncle's (CASTILLO) mostly me. Just don't let them ride bike's with me cause they call me crash. Well that's it for know hope to here from all of you

Baseball Season

Hello All,

Well, it's baseball season again. The Mark and Joseph are in the Majors for Norther Little Leagues Ports. Dillon is play tball for the Northern Red Sox and guess who is the coach?!?!?!?! Me. I wasn't applying for the job but the president asked me if I would coach because he was without a coach and has seen me around a lot and I'm pretty active in the with the teams the boys play on. I have never volunteered to coach because of my unfamiliarity with baseball, but I bought a "Coaching Tball" book and have read up on some drills and basic fundamentals for tball so I'll try my best and as long as the kids have fun; that is what is most important.

Mark is doing good, this is his second year in the Majors, he should've played in the minors last year but because of his size and because he probably looked like he could play they bumped him up. This year he looks more comofortable and I think he is looking forward to the season.

This is Joey's first year in the majors and in little league. He's played for the Jr. Giants but that is a city sponsored program that is not as competitive as regular little league. I was aprehensive about letting him play with the majors but the coach said he looked really good for his age and his newness and he would be alright, a little rough but so was Mark when he started and he has progressed well. Joey does look good playing and actually looks a little better than Mark. I think he got the natural Castillo ability to play sports. He probably got my share as well since I'm not as athletic as I could be.

Dillon is starting to like the game. At first he wasn't too enthusiastic because he couldn't throw or catch. He still can't catch with the glove, but he's only 5 and he'll get there. At first he wanted to quit but I think as he's seen himself get better in the past few weeks, even though he knows he cant play like his brothers, I think he's more optimistic.

Ok. My monthly diatribe is over, I'll write again soon when I can and will have pictures of the boys playing ball.

Take care and God Bless.

Training

Hello out there!!! I trained on the bike today. Trained real hard. I rode 41 miles at a fast pace. I most ly kept the speed at 19 mph. There were times that I hit 20 and 21 mph. I mean, I waas cooking. My heart rate was up to 138. Normally I keep that at 123. Oh yeah, I was in a training mode. And now, 4 hours later, I feel the pain. I am a little sore. But, no pain, no gain. I am getting ready for my 100 mile run. I will tell you when I do it. Are you ready to ride?

Salutations

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is fine. Olivia and I are doing just fine thank you.

I have been busy painting the house and trying to get ready for Marina's baby shower. That means I have to have the house ready for the party. You know, clean, clean and clean.

I am still biking as much as the weather permits me. And it sure feels good to ride. That was a long winter. I have not bought any new bike stuff, so no new pictures.

Olivia is still working. I think she is starting to look forward to retiring. She sees all my free time and gets kind of antsy.

My grandkid, Joaquin Armando Recinos, is growing fast. Man what a good looking kid. Definitely a Castillo.

Well, I have to go now. I hope to hear from all of you soon. May God bless all of you. Be good, be kind and have a good day.

Armando Castillo

My Olive Tree

It looks like it is starting to take a good shape.

Purely professional.

Now you see why I wanted you to face the sun. You look like face-off. And where is the fuzz?

White fuzz

Hey Johnny, wipe your chin. It looks dirty.

The fuzz

Can you see the fuzz on my chin? What!! No white hair, all black. Now how did that happen?

The Tour de Castillo

O.K. That looks fantastic. Who is in front? Should this be re-done with a photo of the guys in action? I mean, throw in a big fellow. Better yet, lets all lose weight so that we may look like that. Yeah, I like that idea better.

Congratulations John boy! And of course Nick too. Afterall, he did do the work. Did I say work? Sorry, that's a taboo in my vocabulary. I will take that back. He did participate in the child production. There, that's so much better.

Oh Yeah!! I am looking forward to Pebble Beach. I am thinking of making some retirement cards that say "Have Bike, Will ride" Call 1-800-Bike Rider. If you are looking for a good time, call me. (To ride the bike). If you want some action, call me. (To ride the bike). Yeah! Yeah!, only to ride the bike.

Well the weather seems to be good today. It looks like a good bike day.

Hello!!!!

Hello All,
It's been a while since I jumped on the Castillo Blog to say hey so I thought I would today. Congratulations to Tio on his new grandson and the new baby on the way. I also wish the best to both families on the new additions and all the joys to come! My little one just turned 6 months and just started eating rice cereal. I never thought I would be so excited over rice cereal but it's easy to get excited over all her firsts. She is such a happy little girl, always smiling and laughing. She makes us very happy....especially since she sleeps through the night!!! Well, Louis will be leaving to work shortly so I better go. Love you all and talk with you all soon!!!

Hello Mark

Hey boy!! How goes it? I guess since you are the only one that gets on the blog, I will address my messages to you.

Have you been on your bike this year? I have been on the trainer a few times. Not enough to quench my thirst for the bike. I am ready to just go. I am waiting for good weather. It is raining again today. Plus it is cooooold!!

Well, I have to go now. You know, I am a busy guy. I have things to do. I treated myself to breakfast at Chuck's. Now I plan to go to the library and then treat myself to lunch. I already did my exercises this morning also. I am doing Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

Love,
Armando Castillo

See, I told you this was a good way to communicate. Now everyone knows.

Hello again

Salutations to everyone. Well, once again, I and my family are doing fine, thank you. It is cold and raining today. I get to babysit my grandson. That was different. I even helped change his diaper. Now that is one thing I stayed away from with my kids. I let Olivia and the babysitter take care of those chores. Now here I am doing what I would not want to do with my kids. Wow, how times change.

Still not training. Maybe manana.

Well see ya,
Armando

The Blog

Hello. Hope everyone is fine.

I really like this blog. It is a good way to communicate to everyone. That is if it is read on a regular basis. I mean, you can get a message out to anyone or everyone. You can inform everyone about the family. We are a big family and getting bigger. The bigger we get, the more distant we become. Are we missing out on anything? Probably.

Thanks to this blog, we can have a record of the family history as it is being made. For example, you know that Armando Castillo became a grandfather on January 6, 2008. We can record historic events, festive occasions and memorable moments. We can just say hello.

Well, my family is doing well, thank you.

Olivia is still working as a principal at Hazelton School.

Elizabeth and Jorge had a baby boy (Hoo Yaw). Elizabeth had to take some time off from her job. She is a Nurse Practitioner.

Dr. Marina and Jaime are doing fine in Oakland. Dr. Marina will be finishing her residency in Oakland Children's Hospital in June 2008. She plans to move to the Stockton area.

Lil Olivia is still at UCLA. She is finishing her third year at Medical school. One more year after that to then be known as Dr. Olivia.

Me, still retired and loving it very much. I have often said that I would go back to work if and when I get bored. Well, after a year and six months, still not bored. So, still not working.

Well, I wish each and everyone of you the best of health and the best of luck. May all your wishes and dreams become a reality. Be good, be positive, work hard and a world of opportunities will be within your grasp.

May God bless you and keep you safe.
I love you all.

Armando Castillo

Training

Hello everyone. I hope you are all fine.

Well, I have not been training for the Tour, but, I think I will do all right. I am out of shape and will probably hit it hard real soon. I just might go out today. It is sunny and cold right now. I just have to tell myself, self, go out there and ride. Just ride. Well, maybe tommorrow.

I have not recieved any money for the Tour so I have not reserved our room at the Hotel. I will check the price to see if they have gone up. Remember, the closer we get, the more expensive the rooms go up. I am sure it will not go up a lot but if you are on a fixed budget like poor little old me, a dollar is a dollar. I may have to go without eating for a day or two. But do not shed a tear for me. I can cry on my own. Boo Hoo!! Wah Wah!

Mark, thanks for getting on the blog. It encourages me to get on it more often and write more.

Well, see ya,
Armando Castillo

Oh Yeah!!!

Well, it really is starting to be a happy new year. I am now a grandfather. Elizabeth and Jorge had a baby boy. He was 8 pounds 12 ounces and 21 inches long. Healthy and ready to go. His name is Joaquin Armando Recinos. Yeah, you could say I am a proud Papa. I can not wait until Lil Mando gets to ride with me on a bike.

Also, sorry boys, your names on my will are now below his name. He gets first crack at my stuff. But your names are still there at least for show. That's better than nothing. Even though you really get nothing. But guys, you know I love you.

Happy New Year

Well, tomorrow is the 7th and it'll be my first day back at work since December 29th. It was nice to have a few days off and be home with my sons but man, am I ready to go back to work. I was starting to go crazy being at home with the boys. It was nice being home and not having to get up on time but I could literally feel the amount of work that is piling up on me back at work the stuff I'm going to need to catch up on. I didn't get nearly enough of the stuff I wanted to do while I was off done. I had planned to do a lot of stuff around the house but the most I got done was getting it clean and then putting some new curtain rods up in the boys room. Other than that I took the boys bowling and then just tried to keep the house clean. I really wanted to take them to the show on Friday but with the weather being the way it's been lately it just didn't make sense. The weather really did put a big damper on the weekend but I'm working on trying to start the year off right.

Ok, until next time.

Mark Jr.
