I know I haven't posted in awhile but I've been busy and preoccupied. On the workfront, I've accepted a position back at our Lathrop facility so as soon as Modesto's management is able to find a replacement for me or set up a procedure that will make daily processes more tolerable until they're able to find a replacement. I was at odds as to whether or not I should take the position. It's not a promotion (not yet anyway), it's a lateral move but in Lathrop I'll have 3 people reporting to me and my responsibilities will be different because I'll be taking more of a managerial role to not only just cost accounting, but also fixed assets and overhead. It sounds good but I was really disappointed that it wasn't a promotion because from the description of the responsibilities it sounds like a promotion. But Tio Jimmy made a good point that sometimes to go forward, you have to go backward. Although this isn't really going backward, more sideways and a little to the left, I think in the long run it'll give me a more rounded experience base and prepare me for a controller position or something more higher up in the future. Having the MBA and understanding of accounting I've attained over the past 8 years is good, but I need to get the managerial experience under my belt so that I'm more promotable.
The Boys - Mark, Joseph and Dillon will all be playing for the Junior Giants this summer which is a very informal baseball league for the kids that the city sponsors. It's aimed more toward getting kids exposed to the game and trying to show them how fun it can be. It's fun, but personally, I like winning and they don't keep score (but I do) so for the most part, I just look at it as more experience for the boys. This is Dillon's first year playing and he'll be playing T-Ball. He was mad because we didn't go out and buy him a new glove, bat and helmet like we do the other boys. He'll have his own, but we wanted to wait till this weekend. He was just mad that he didn't have it for his first day of practice. Also, I just found out today that Mark made minor league all-stars. So, somehow, we'll have to balance Jr. Giants with All-Stars, but since All-Stars is real little league, then that one will be more important.
Ok, sorry for not posting for awhile, I'll try to make postings more often so that I don't always publish books when I post. Megan saw me typing and asked me why I always publish these long all diatribes (she didn't use the word diatribe, I just thought it sounded more dramatic). So, I'll try to post more often.
